About Us
Green Lane School has been serving families for more than 50 years with a simple mission: to provide children ages one through five with a safe, nurturing place to learn, grow, and discover the joy of school.
Families throughout Roxborough, Manayunk, and the greater Philadelphia area have chosen Green Lane for generations because of our warm teachers, structured programs, and strong community values.
We are more than a childcare center. We are a preschool rooted in Christian values of kindness, respect, and community, welcoming families of all backgrounds. Our goal is to help your child develop the skills, confidence, and love of learning they will carry into kindergarten and beyond.
Our Story
Green Lane School was founded in 1968 as a ministry of Green Lane United Methodist Church. What began as a small preschool program has grown into a trusted early education center serving families across Roxborough, Manayunk, and Philadelphia. For more than five decades, we have combined the structure of a licensed childcare center with the warmth of a community school.
Our Staff
Our teachers and assistants meet Pennsylvania Department of Human Services standards for early childhood education. All staff members are trained in pediatric first aid and CPR, undergo state and federal background checks, and participate in continuing education each year. Most importantly, our team is passionate about working with young children and creating a positive, joyful classroom environment.
Our Facility
Our beautiful historic building features spacious sunlit classrooms with architectural details and high ceilings, a large indoor play area with updated equipment and a stage for the family-favorite holiday and graduation shows, and multiple outdoor play areas.
We have a convenient on-site parking lot for pickup and dropoff.
The safety and security of the children is our number one priority. All doors in the building are always locked.
