Learn with us!

We believe children learn best through hands-on experiences, exploration, and play. At Green Lane School, curiosity leads the way and every moment becomes a meaningful opportunity to discover, create, and grow. By engaging their senses, interacting with the world around them, and learning through joyful play, children develop confidence, problem-solving skills, and a lifelong love of learning.

About our Curriculum

Our curriculum is designed to meet Pennsylvania Early Childhood Learning Standards while also honoring each child’s natural curiosity and creativity.

We use the basic guidelines  presented by the Philadelphia School District for preschool. We also use resources  recommended by the Delaware Valley Association for the Education of Young  Children and the National Association for the Education of Young Children.  Teachers use the Pennsylvania Standards to ensure varied, exciting,  developmentally appropriate learning experiences that will help each child grow  socially, emotionally, physically, and academically.

Each child is given  individualized opportunities based on his/her readiness level. We are constantly aware of the need to protect and nurture a positive self-esteem for all our children. During the school year the children will work in areas of readiness  (appropriate for their age level) in the following subjects; reading, math, color and  shape recognition, spatial size relationships, language, listening skills, social studies, science, movement, art, and music. In addition, the children are always  practicing social skills such as working together, helping, sharing, and making  friends.

More to Love

Beyond the basic curriculum, students also have the opportunity to participate in our special programs, which have included music, yoga, animals, and even pirates! Students also enjoy seasonal events like a visit from Santa, the Easter Bonnet Parade, Halloween parties, Scholastic books fair, and more. Plus, there is the opportunity to sign up for special multi-week extras, like sports and movement.

Since 1968, a trusted preschool and childcare in Roxborough, Philadelphia.
